The Very End

I have finally returned home safe and sound. It took about 21 hours to get from Lappeenranta, Finland to Bloomington, Indiana, but for the most part everything went smoothly. As much as I miss Finland, it is nice to be back home. I don't have much else to say. It was an absolutely amazing year. I know that I have grown so much as an adult and as a person. I want to thank everyone-- especially my host families-- for all the work put into this year. The year would not have been possible without you and I am forever grateful. For now, I'll leave you with this video which is a little recap of my exchange. I hope you have all enjoyed following my journey this year. It has been an unforgettable one.

  1. Hi Molly,
I am thinking about going on a 6 month student exchange to Finland. I cannot speak much of the language AT ALL right now but I'm keen to learn and im probably going to go in a year so I have plenty of time to learn ☺ How much did you know when you went?? Also did your grades go down when you came back?? And would you recommend Finland?
    Thanks ☺

    1. Hello! I never almost nothing when I went. One of the best and worst things about Finland is that almost everyone speaks English. It's easy to communicate, but finding people to practice Finnish with can be difficult. Everyone wants to practice their English.
So far my grades haven't gone down. However, It is difficult to get back into American life. I don't feel my education was hindered by my exchange.
I would definitely recommend Finland. It can be tough, but all exchanges are tough at times. I wish you luck :)
